Families and their children receive care at Kids Creek Children’s Clinic by appointment. Please call our office and speak with a member of our scheduling staff, who will be happy to help you arrange a visit for your child. Families are able to schedule appointments with their provider of choice. In addition, a limited amount to time for walk-in visits is available, though, when possible, an appointment is advisable.
During most days of the year, we have time reserved for same day appointments addressing acute illnesses (i.e.: colds, earaches, sore throats, vomiting, or injuries). We encourage families with a sick child to call as early as possible to schedule a same day appointment. Each child that is ill will need to have an appointment scheduled in order for a provider to see them. Less acute issues, including ongoing or chronic problems, will be scheduled as promptly as possible.

Kids Creek Children's Clinic Vaccine Policy
We welcome all children at Kids Creek Children’s Clinic, vaccinated or not, based on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ policy. All of the medical professionals at Kids Creek Children’s Clinic feel strongly that vaccinating children fully and on schedule with currently recommended vaccines is the safest and best way to keep children of all ages healthy. Vaccines are one of the best tools available to us to protect our children! We are ALL parents of completely vaccinated children ourselves.
While we respect that parents have the right to choose what they feel is best for their children, we will continue to present what we as medical professionals feel is best. We will discuss vaccines at all well visits and offer and encourage them each time. We will expect and require you to sign the American Academy of Pediatrics waiver if you choose not to vaccinate – each time. Insurance companies require us to show proof of signed waivers AND it is the American Academy of Pediatrics’ policy. We will also offer educational information on vaccines through the Centers for Disease Control and the American Academy of Pediatrics.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.
Children who receive daily medication for an ongoing condition (asthma, allergies, ADHD for example) will need a med check at least every 3 - 6 months. During these visits, the provider will assess for efficacy and side effects of medications and ensure that the most optimal treatment is being provided for your child’s problem.
Kids Creek Children’s Clinic requests a 24 hour notice when rescheduling or cancelling an appointment.
After Hours Care
If your child is experiencing a life threatening emergency dial 911.
Routine questions, medication refills, and minor problems should be handled during our daytime hours. After hours calls should be limited to serious, emergent concerns where your child may need to be seen immediately. If you have a medical emergency with your child, Kids Creek Children’s Clinic offers a “Nurse on Call” service provided to us through Spectrum Health in Grand Rapids. A registered nurse will assess your child's symptoms, using treatment and advice guidelines approved by our doctors, to help you get the care you need. The nurse will help you decide whether or not your child needs to be seen immediately or if your concerns can wait until the next clinic day.
The "Nurse-On-Call" service was designed with several benefits in mind for you and all our patients, as follows:
- Provide you with support and guidance in emergency situations to help decide the best course of action for your child's problems
- Make sure care is provided in the most appropriate setting; office, walk-in clinic, or emergency room
- Provide required verification/authorizations for after hours referrals to emergency rooms or walk-in clinics
- Prevent unnecessary trips to the emergency room or walk-in clinic, thereby saving your time and money
- Avoid long waiting times in the Emergency Department
After normal business hours, the pediatricians of Kids Creek Children’s Clinic share call with other pediatricians in the community.
In the event that your child requires specialized medical care or consultation, our providers and scheduling staff will work with you to obtain the most accessible and appropriate referral. Many factors contribute to the scheduling of a referral appointment, including insurance coverage, medical history, and test results. HIPPA agreements signed by patient guardians allow Kids Creek Children’s Clinic to share any health information pertinent to providing quality health care. Our staff will do it’s best to secure an appointment for your child in as timely a manner as is feasible.

Since individual coverage plans can vary greatly, we encourage families to become familiar with the benefits provided by their plan. We request that families present their insurance card at each visit so that we may stay updated on your coverage.
Payment for office services is due at the time services are rendered unless payment arrangements have been approved in advance by our staff. We accept cash, checks, credit cards and debit cards. A fee may be incurred if payment is not made at the time of service. We will be happy to help you process your insurance claim form for reimbursement if payment is made in full at the time of service. If we participate with your insurance carrier, we expect applicable co-payment and deductibles at the time of service.
Returned checks and balances older than 30 days may be subject to additional collection fees and interest charges. Charges may also be made for broken appointments.
We will gladly discuss your proposed treatment and answer any questions relating to your insurance. You must realize, however, that:
- Your insurance is a contract between you, your employer and the insurance company.
- Our fees are considered usual, customary, and reasonable by most insurance companies. If your insurance company does not cover the whole fee, the balance becomes your responsibility.
- Not all services are a covered benefit in all contracts. Some insurance companies arbitrarily select certain services they will not cover.
We must emphasize that as medical care providers, our relationship is with you, not your insurance company. While the filing of insurance claims is a courtesy that we are able to extend to some of our patients, all charges are your responsibility from the date the services are rendered. We realize that temporary financial problems may affect timely payment of your account. No patient will be denied care because of inability to pay fees. If you have any questions about the above information or any uncertainty regarding insurance coverage, PLEASE do not hesitate to ask us. We are here to help you. We will work with you to try and ensure that your child gets the care he or she needs.
